Supercell Announces the End of Chest Keys
Chest Keys were slated for removal: gone from passes and offers in early January 2025 and deleted from the game entirely by the end of March 2025.
Just before the end of 2024, Supercell announced it was sunsetting the Chest Key system — the items used to instantly unlock chests.
From early January 2025, Chest Keys stopped appearing in the Diamond Pass Royale and shop offers, and the team set a hard deadline: by the end of March 2025, Chest Keys would be removed from the game altogether, with any unredeemed keys disappearing.
The announcement urged players to spend their remaining keys and teased replacement reward features. In hindsight it was an early signal of the much bigger economy change to come — the April 2025 update that removed the chest queue entirely.
